The story behind the handwoven mats is very fascinating. They originate from a village called Kuruduma in Asokoro Nigeria.
The Local village women weave these mats from fabrics discarded by tailors. The women make the mats, in a process called ‘upcycling’. This simply means that the tailors re-purpose the discarded pieces of fabric.
They are able to feed their families from the proceeds of selling these beautiful mats.
